I got a call this morning on the way to work and when I answered it was the bank automated fraud thing. So I hung up until I got to work, all the while puzzled because I hadn't bought anything foreign, which is usually what trips it.

When I called and got through all the identity bumf, the first transaction was £10 this morning. Not me! I got connected to an operator and found there were five £10 O2 top-ups over the past ten days. When I told him I used to be an O2 customer - even though I said I was never on PAYG - he refused to mark them as fraud or block future transactions and said I had to go to O2.

But 10 minutes of pissing about on google and O2 lead me to the conclusion it was a cloned card and nothing O2 could do. So I went back, got a different guy, said I wasn't an O2 customer (technically true) and he happily marked all the top-ups as fraudulent, plus an entry I wasn't sure about, cancelled my card and issued a new one.

So the one time Santander's automated fraud detection *isn't* preventing me buying "specialist" porn is the one time they're useless cunts. But then they were alright the second go round.
