I have no opinion on the legality because I know nothing about it that Chompy has not told me.However Courts have been known to make wrong or racially motivated decisions in the past, for example I believe that black people are more likely to be convicted of crimes and to get stiffer sentences than whites when they are.
At the end of the day, legal decisions are still human decisions and humans can be, and often are, consciously or unconsciously biased.

The fact it cost £18million to the council to get it through the courtsalso suggests it wasn't an open and shut case.
