my mum liked the roses, ian brown, oasis, all the madchester stuff
my dad liked/s elvis, buddy holly, country and western.

we usually ended up with some compromise like fleetwood mac or paul simon on long family car journeys. must be hard if you and your other half have wildly different taste in music.
