How much life do I have to sacrifice?
I wanted to play like Hendrix when I was a teenager (and to be fair gave it a good crack for a while), but I got over it when I realised there was nothing to be gained from it.
There are many other guitarists whose abilities I would like, off the top of my head: Robert Johnson, Bert Jansch, er... and several others.

Obviously I would love to be able to string together words like Dylan, but he also managed to outlive the dreaded 27 and even defied convention by producing some decent stuff later in life (along with some turkeys, admittedly.)

As I'm the wrong side of 50 I feel it's too late to die young!
But, would I have signed that devilish pact to have a world - stunning talent?
I have loads of guitarist heroes that I would have given my right nut to play like - Tommy Emmanuel, Steve Kaufmann, John Fahey etc etc etc, but I wouldn't have wanted to die young. I've done too much since the age of 27 that I wouldn't have missed for the world.

I think at 18 most of us would have signed or at least considered it.
But I agree, there is more stuff to do after 27. And, not sure about the others, but Fahey lived to see at least 60 I think...
