I had a 105% mortgage when I bought my flat.But I was one of those weird people who kept up with their payments, and when I sold the flat I actually came out ahead in terms of investment, but I realise that makes me very lucky and definitely one of the minority.
Also, buying property in Scotland (and a fairly shit area of Scotland, at that) helped. Prices down here in the South West are crazy, and I can't even begin to imagine buying anything in the South East.
