work is mental. and i am in barbados for a week.

when my mum was around, we had christmas eve presents and dinner before brother and i fucked off to the pub and parents put out the presents/drank champagne. then in the morning we had a book or similar by the bed and a morning present with coffee/croissants etc. everything else waited until after lunch, to stretch out the day. we had table and pudding presents, then had to wait until everything had been cleared away. late afternoon was an orgy of present opening, then tea. eventually when we were all ready for bed, we got stockings.

i have no idea how my mother managed this for all of us. she started shopping and wrapping in about august. since she died it's just been get up wherever we've gone for christmas that year and hit the beach.
