The lack of bad parenting is one reason I like Monty.

Well Monty got two birds pregnant at once cos he obviously doesn't use condoms. He doesn't think it's hilarious though.
His flat has drugs dotted around in LP sleeves that he's forgotten about and mental drug cranks have keys to his flat and let themselves in during the early hours. He is a very very very nice bloke and I'm sure he teaches his kid wonderful things and really loves her. But other circumstances kind of negate the 'parenting' skills when his house obviously isn't the place for a babby.

I was unaware of either of these incidents.
I will adjust my opinion of Monty accordingly.I do stand by my general view that Monty is a flawed but essentially decent human being who make some poor decisions, while Barry appears to be a charming and funny socio-path with no moral compunction what so ever.*

*based entirely on his on-line persona, never met him so he may be OK as a person and I fully admit My views may be coloured by having met Monty and found him to be a likeable human being.
