I met my oldest friend because our parents were friends before we were born.
We were in the same class throughout school and work together now. Surprisingly we're not sick of each other and both of us can only ever recall one incident of us falling out (aged about 10, neither of us can remember why).
We're actually quite different from one another and share few interests, but just get on well. I suppose it is more like a fraternal relationship in that sense.
I have other close friends, with whom I have far more in common, but he was the obvious choice for best man when I got married.
