One of my friends turned it off, because he was bored, and it was 'too long'. I pointed out he liked Titanic, told him he was a fool, remembered he liked Titanic, laughed in his face.

It wasn't the length.
It was the incredibly lazy writing, poor characterisation and cringeworthy self-conscious smugness. It seemed to genuinely believe that it was a clever film.
