Looks like they'll delay it for a year as well,
which doesn't make much sense economically... but could bring in a big boost to tax income just before the election.

What do you think of Labour's suggestion to reduce VAT?
I don't think it would stimulate spending as they suggest, as retailers etc wouldn't cut prices, instead they'd use it as an opportunity to increase margin.

I think going back to 17.5% would be for the best.
But it's not a priority at the moment, increasing margins for retailers is generally not a bad thing economically but it doesn't help most.
There was a suggestion that start ups shouldn't have to pay any tax at all for the first two years, that would increase growth and employment significantly, at a fairly low cost.
