I have the reverse problem - I have ended up with duplicates in the iTunes library and can't remove them.Tried everything I can think of.

You can click show duplicates in the file menubut then you have to delete them by hand

I have 7000 songs, of which about 4000 are duplicates.Apparently these is some cheap software you can buy where you export your library and it will sort it all for you and you then re-import a tidied library. I don't know what is called.

Or you could go to the folder in which the songs are keptand manually delete the duplicates, then refresh the library. That way you wouldn't have to spend any money at all.
