could lead to some confusion.
To "bide" in my part of the world means to live, stay or reside. So, your post may lead me to believe that you've left the elderly chap with the tricky-dicker and gone elsewhere.
I don't believe you mean that.
Here it would be "chauvin' awa."
Which means getting on with my (incredibly dull, hopelessly exploited, awful) life.
We need a Doric/Fife, Fife/Doric dictionary.
