I found it relatively easy, but then I am a more than competent guitarist already.
It depends on which style of playing you want to learn.
Bluegrass picking is a bit tricky at first, but once you have developed muscle memory there is not a lot more to learn, it just requires lots of practice to sound good.
You'd think that frailing should be fairly easy if toothless yokels in the deep south can manage it, but again it takes a lot of practice.
