I just think its unethical. Sure its less work for people like me but if I had just spunked out £2k on a laptop only to be told "sorry your hard drive has failed after 18 months (which they do ALOT!) No you can't put in a new drive, either pay us a daft amount of money or buy a new one" Id be pretty pissed of. Also the soldered on ram thing is fucking gay. Toshiba did it on a few laptops and if the ram failed you had to buy a new laptop, which sucks. No expansion slot so no ram upgrades possible either unless you buy them at time of purchase. £160 for 8gb ram which is about 5 times what it should be.

but the fact that it means LESS work for you not more is still valid.

I fix it myself its done same day. Apple don't do onsite repair so we drop it off at a repair center who send it off. Usual turn around is 2 weeks them we have to drive back out to newquay to pick it up. 2 weeks without their laptop turns the staff member in to an even bigger twat. Then they get it back to find Apple have wiped their drive and they have not got a backup because they are morons.
