What's wrong with that? Seriously? That was a genre breaking sound and laid a huge path to other stuff.

but mayhen, in particular dead, changed the way guitar chords were played by metal bands, moving away from power chords. I can't really get in to it, but it is part of the change in heavy/death/thrash/black metal.
