They beat him up but he was so ill anyway that it killed him.
This was key to it being manslaughter not murder hence the 5 year sentence.

there was one of those across the road from my pub the other week.
Poor old boy had ask the guy for a lighter outside a club, dropped it in a puddle by accident, and these 2 Ladd kicked seven shades of shit out of him, he managed to crawl up the road about 100 metres, and then died, apparently his lungs filled with blood and he sort of drowned internally.
