Talking of not liking Greeks/gays/etc.There was an interesting subject of R4's Great Lives yesterday - www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01m5jtk - Roman chap called Juvenal, who liked to "rant and rail against women, foreigners, gays and the upstarts who are all ruining Rome"
