I underwent the most pathetic mugging in Christendom a couple of years ago.I was absolutely wankered after a drinking session, and it was really just a jumped-up spare-changing - he got my £30 mobile 'phone, but I retained the bag that had ~£1000 of camera gear in it, my wallet and my MP3 player.
As a result I tend not not go drinking with significant amounts of camera gear with me, now.
