In 194-something, Britain said
"Hey guys, why don't you go over here to this bit of the world we're abandoning and live on it like it's your own? Sure you'll be surrounded by hostile people of a differing and somewhat militant religion who all think you're interloping on their land and are therefore likely to get a bit testy about the situation, but as long as you react with overt aggression and carry on looking whiter than them, the West will probably take your side".

I can't see where it all went wrong. I didn't live during the days where the UK told the rest of the world what to do, but I think I would have liked it.

It was 1948. And we didn't give it, they took it.
And it was called Palestein, oops Palestine.

Really?
I could have sworn there was a settlement programme.

Ben Gurion introduced that after it became Israel.
They invited everyone "home".

But the old country of Palestine was partitioned by the UN, in fact.

There was a land grab before the UN did it's worst.
