I'd have Alex as a druggled crack addict who only plays the game as he's completely divorced from real life.
Maggie is the sole breadwinner. She works in a local truck stop whilst simultaneously taking care of their litter of trailer trash kids. Centauri is a total paedo and Xur is actually an anti-hero, trying to save the degenerate Rylan Star League from its corrupt officials.
