Cod is actually now more sustainable than a lot of other fish.
Haddock is struggling, cod was a no go fish for long enough to bounce back.

It's interesting, the aquaculture guys I work with
would farm it if it was in decline, because it makes it valuable enough to bother, but since it isn't, they don't. A kind of self-balancing state of play.
