Is simultaneously the best and the shittest thing about the genre. When bands take it seriously it's hilarious, when they realise the ridiculousness of it and deliberately camp it up like Sunn O))) do, it's wonderful. Lack of self-awareness runs deep in the genre.

One of the funniest nights I have ever had is going to see Napalm Death at the old Army and Navy in Chelmsford.
It's now a Travel Lodge. Essex county council are cunts.
