I tend to drink the stuff that's doesn't taste like vinegar, and doesn't cost the earth. Think Glenivet, Chivas, Black Label and the like. I only tend to drink it when I'm so full of beer I can't fit any more in.

Yes, yes he did.
He plots well, but his characters are desperately unlikeable and the writing itself is smug. It's all deeply shallow- good on the surface but it doesn't really stand up too well when you open the bonnet.

I've only read a few short stories from his SF stuff so can't really comment, but I've read loads of his mainstream stuff. I went through a period of liking him when I was 17, read several of his books and realised that he isn't actually that good.
