The school I read at is in south London and 99.9% of the children are from africaThey pick up English super-fast, but of course a lot of their parents can't help them read at home. It makes a massive difference.
Mostly they are lovely kids, although one did once threaten my colleague for 50p. And the little boy I had one year was called "felony", which must have meant something different in his parents' homeland, either that or they hated him on sight...
