Is there a Richer Sounds anywhere near you?
They have some decent deals, usually. Prob look to spend £100ish on the speakers and the balance on the unit, won't be spectacular but should be decent. I got a TEAC CD/amp/radio from them a couple of years ago and it's pretty good, and titchy to boot.

There is one at Swiss Cottage. I may well pop up there, but I don't know what brands to go for.
