Although I hate to admit it, mine is receding temple-wise, so short hair makes it look less obvious.

It's not thin. just less at the front, apart from the middle bit. As long as I don't end up with 'the island' or 'the toilet seat' look I'll be ok.

Same here. #1.5 every three weeks.
Only problem is I have a four inch scar on the side of my head (from a seizure I had a few years ago), which is visible as a result.
