I read today that Netflix buys the rights to whatever is most being pirated in a regionon the grounds that there's a demand for it. If there was something similar for films, say 2 weeks after it opened in cinemas worldwide (and differing opening dates in different regions only made sense when there was physical film to be shipped, it's all digital now) piracy would be all but wiped out.
