Dear gods.
I grew up in Somerset. Coming back home from university one summer, I was sitting with a friend outside a local pub, and some girls came over that knew him.

I said something - what I can't remember, but I assume it contained a polysyllable, because one of the girls turned to me with absolute scorn, and hissed accusingly "Ur yew intelligent ur summat?!"

On visiting my old local, the barman recognised me, and asked me 'ow be an. I said I was up in London now, and one of the barflies said wistfully "London ... my mate went to London once ... "

I took Mrs Vagabond there a few years ago, and I swear to God I could have picked up any of the conversations I left 20 years ago.

It depends on the area.
Some of them simply regard it as a form of birth control.
