To complete my bathroom
I am in need of some metal work done and if Mrs Vipros' dad can't do it I'm going to have to find somewhere else.
What I'm after is a plate of stainless steel (preferrably reasonably close to mirror finish) 1 or 2 mm thick, cut to a rectangle about 250mm by 150mm with rounded corners and with 2 holes cut in to my specification.
has anyone got any suggestions as to where I could get this?

I would imagine that most engineering workshops could do this
In fact I have a friend who specializes in the same type of metalwork. It shouldn't be too difficult to accomplish.
Have a check through the Yellow Pages for any fabricators in your local area. Some places like to commission in bulk, but you may get lucky with a one off.

the one off nature of it
is what I assume will cause me most problems.
it's sounding like my other half's dad will be able to do it though so that should solve the problem.

Over here, any machine shop could do it.
I know at least six that could. Contact BGB- her father has a machine shop in Manchester.

Profile Cutters
The best places to try are profile cutters. They can pretty much cut any shape you want to any specification with a clean edge. You might have to provide a simple sketch. If you go to a fabricators or workshop, they will simply order from a profile cutter and add their percentage on top.
They should be able to cut the shapes from pieces they have, otherwise you may have to pay for a full sheet. If this is the case be sure to request that you are supplied with any offcuts.
Plasma cutting will provide the best quality.
