@EthelredThat would be part of the ceremony. Everyone would be waiting without a clue what's going on. Then, this bloke appears and starts making excuses. When asked questions, he can't answer a single one.
About halfway through, he'll announce that the stadium will be spontaneously closing and everyone is to move to a new stadium. Of course, not all the exits will be finished and it takes ages to empty the stadium. By the time the last stragglers have reached the new stadium, the ceremony would have finished.
