^ I disagreeA PhD is supposed to be an original contribution to the field, thus the research involved should be of a level that can be published internationally. Generously, I will make allowances that things may be different in the weird world of Arts n'stuff :)
You won't get much of a chance to publish in teh first few years of a lectureship, so publish early and publish often.
