but does anyone know of an easy way of interpolating to fill the gaps in an ascii grid (a DTM) using GIS?
preferably in ArcView 3.2

I did some work with .NET and some open source components to do just that about a year ago...
I can drag it out of archive if you want. But any programming language could work, more or less, if what you did was 'preprocess' your ASCII grids, to do your interpolation thing, *then* load them into the GIS package of your choice...
