Right, I did a urban dictionary search.I now understand. I think that new years resolutions are ok, always useful to have goals, not worth telling everyone about it.

Having goals is fine.Waiting for an arbitrary date probably means you won't do them.
Telling people of your goals is silly as they know when you've failed to meet them.
