It's fairly common, I first read it in the River Cafe cook book, but it's been in a Nigella and a Jamie oliver book I think.

Depends how strong the sausages are, I think the nutmeg part of the recipe should just say "to taste"

also as well ... all recipes with nutmeg implicitly include a bit of knuckle flesh or finger nail
