My local's quiz rolls over if if it's not won, so they can develop quite a pot.
It went up to just over a grand last summer, and Mrs V and I couldn't get our usual seats because of all the quizzers, which was rather upsetting.

It's well hard - one of the questions last year was (paraphrased) "Who said this about whom, when asked 'Can he play bass?' 'A bit.'" - it's proper geeky stuff.

How is there not a winner for a quiz?
When my old local was closing I won the last ever (and my first) bonus ball.

You have to get something like 80% right to win the pot, or something, I think.
We don't do it - I go to the pub to drink, not do exams.
