@ Ancrenne - Tubes to EalingStaying on the District line will probably be easier although switching to the Piccadilly will probably be slightly faster.
If you do decide to change do it at Baron's Court instead of Hammersmith, it's a much nicer platform for sitting @ for a few minutes.
Either way be careful which District line train you get, it splits into 3 towards the west. If you do decide to swap lines then as well as an Ealing Broadway train you can also get one on the Richmond branch as that doesn't diverge until after your change so that'd probably reduce your wait time @ Westminster.
