which just means the teams can develop aero to try and improve. however, mercedes did such a good job on the engine that no one else can get close and it all seems ridiculous.

Buttons win with Brawn is a case in point, the right engineers, at the right time, with a good idea win. you look at that season and everyone slowly catches up as they figure out what brawn had done. this set of rules means that no one can even begin to catch up. we know the red bull chassis is probably better than the mercedes one, and the ferrari and williams are close, but because they cannot effectively improve the engine, all the racing happens for p3 and down.

also somehow they need to get more emphasis on mechanical grip, less on the aero, make it more interesting, works for bikes and saloons.....

but i think allowing ground effect may at least allow closer racing again without the need for the DRS.
F1 one has gone through peaks and troughs ever since i've been watching, I'm sure it'll come back around again. and at least we've got some good racing in the midfield, so there is potential in these regs and tyre stuff and the DRS is starting to work how it was supposed to. if they can sort out the engines, then we'll be good. i get the feeling we're on the cusp of an upswing, depending on decisions made by bernie.
