My bass is fineBecause the ends of the bass strings are inserted into the centre of the tuning pegs, and are therefore not dangerous.
I just haven't trimmed the ends of the strings on the acoustic enough, or at least not as much as I usually would, and hence the problems. There was a previous incident with a school guitar and the strings which wasn't fun either.
