Series II FTWThe V8s are amazing for off road but very very thirsty... problem is all the old diesels pre Td5 are rubbish. Isuzu 3.0TDI from a Trooper is a good transplant.
I've been offered a 1992 Merc 300E straight six diesel, rather sluggish but has air con, cruise, electric everything including seats, full leather and will do 45mpg even with the auto box. Also a good candidate for running on veg oil.
£900!
