I've got 14 HP laptops under my remitAnd none of them have gone wrong since we bought them.
Out of 65 HP Compaq desktops, I've had two hardware problems in four years.
As I said, YMMV, and HPs will break sometimes, but I definitely think they're more reliable than Acer.
