It's a modern Rotastak style of cageand the cat somehow managed to remove one of the circular bungs that keep the hamster in and safe.
She's survived the night but I think we'll have to take her to the vet this morning to be put to sleep.
The cat continues to be very, very affectionate. I suspect the hamster was a gift for us - he was coming up to the bedroom with it when we found him.
So I suppose we should be flattered that he didn't just eat her!
To be honest, that would have been cheaper.
