I thinkshe was waiting until she'd had her birthday and seen everyone. I honestly can't see her returning home. However as you say 104 is about as good as it gets and there's not really anything more we can do. Whilst she's relatively alert, her body won't do what she wants it to anymore.
Funny story - When the local paper came to her house on her 100th Birthday, not only were they surprised to see her open the door to them but even more so when she told them to piss off as she didn't want everyone knowing how old she was.
