It sounds like your broadband is really slow
The speed that pops up in the yellow balloon thing in the bottom right is the theoretical maximum speed - 100MB for cable, 11MB for older WiFi and 54MB for newer Wifi.

This only applies to the connections between the computer and the switch (part of the router). The speed that you can connect to your ISP at will be different, usually 512k, 2MB, 8MB - so even if your WiFi is down to 1MB connection this shouldn't throttle the internet too much - the max speed of the network is many times the speed of your internet connection.

Do you understand this or have I done a shit job of explaining it? The speed test you've been running is testing the total round trip time of the whole connection, so it sounds like it's your broadband being shit not the router.

Have a look on your ISPs website or ring them, and see if they're reporting any problems..
