AhhhI suppose they're quite similar! But I'd call them JCBs, excavators, earthmovers etc...
Not even sure what the technical differences are, since you can get tractors with loads of hydraulics on. Maybe it's that on a tractor you can swap more bits round, I don't know.
I have been for a spot of night time urban 'tractor' driving as well, top fun! Apologies to the person who woke up in the morning to find their front garden wall razed to the ground, although I did leave you a dumper truck in compensation.
