it had heard of 2 out of 7 artists I tried. Emusic and last.fm are much better.

But I've just signed up to Spotify, opened up the home page and have listened to a couple of new albums that I wouldn't have gone on a search for. I'm impressed so far but I won't be giving up my Lastfm subscription just yet...

It's not got half of what I want, the sound quality's poor (to my ears), far inferior to CDs and even digital radio (and don't get me started on vinyl), and the unavoidable government adverts are downright sinister - don't understand why the media is talking them up them as reassuring.
I've been a member for a month - got an invite early - and it quickly lost its charm.
But fairplay, it's about as convenient as it gets if you want to check out pretty much whatever you like from a top-forty artist. Pretty surprising it exists.

..sold a pretty unknown rage against the machine 7" from 1996 over the weekend for £20 on ebay. Didn't think I'd get much more than a fiver. It was most gratifying to parcel it up today and get it in the post.
