Why is it...

Professional athletes do everything humanly possible to reduce drag, increase aerodynamicness, reduce weight and increase speed and efficiency.

So why is it that in the 21st century, they still use safety pins to pin their numbers to their tops? Surely they could be issued with the numbers beforehand and print or iron them on?

I served a customer who had, in the most beautiful calligraphy, "SPURS" tatooed on his forehead.
