The main horrible thing about toilet paper
(and indeed a lot of sorts of paper, like teabags, Rizlas, etc etc) is the amount of bleach used to get it white. For no other reason than we associate white with cleanliness, it serves no functional purpose. Bleach is a pretty nasty chemical.

There's quite a few brands of 100% recycled, unbleached (well, I think not rebleached is the technical term) toilet paper available, it's not much more expensive and it's exactly the same on your arse as the normal stuff.

Apparently Britain uses more bog roll per head than any other country in the world.
