Budget details
I just had a look at the BBC website and Darling of the Treasury has announced a 2p rise in fuel duty from September, then a 1p-above-inflation rise next year.

But that means if the RPI is strongly negative next year, even 1p above inflation could constitute a decrease in fuel duty. Bet he's not reckoning on that one.

That in reality the increase will be |inflation| + 1.

:edit: That makes no sense... What I mean is (inflation + |inflation|)/2 + 1.
