Yeah, strange huh?My dad's an english teacher, and he hates the fact that it basicaly means someone who loves childeren. I think that it's just due to the naming tradition for any paraphilia.
EDIT: For clarification, my Dad specialises on Eytomology, which is why he's pissed off with how it's named.
