Nah.Punk was about arty kids having a laugh, dressing up, whining and pretending to have read Situationist literature, Ballard and Burroughs. When it started to define itself it became all that shite awful stuff like the Exploited or Anti Nowhere League, humourless and self righteous.
It did however pave the way for the much more interesting post punk period.
